STEM is for Everyone!

Hey Reader,

Here’s a little note about how my week is going.

🎥I watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights and it is just as hilarious as I remember!
🥞Every single workday morning I have a Kodiak Flapjack Power Cup…it is DELISH!
😂And the funniest thing I saw on the internet was Jimmy Cash’s video on those brown school paper towels. (it’s funny because it’s true 😂😂)

I bet if I asked you to hit reply and tell me what you watched, ate, and laughed about this week it would be totally different than my list (and please feel free to reply!)

That’s because the 3 things above are my opinions…

So here’s another one. (And it might be a little unpopular when it comes to people who love teaching 3D Printing like I know you do.)

Even though people say young kids can’t create 3D printing files, I believe they can!

Here’s why:

☑️People think kids won’t be able to do it, but with the right support they can

☑️Students are motivated by 3D printing a majority of the time and will work to be successful.

☑️My previous experience working with students as young as first grade has shown me they can!

I always make sure I have the right things in place to make my students successful with 3D printing. I add them to my class in Tinkercad so they only have to make a few clicks to get there. I make sure to choose a simple project with students first and go through it with them step by step. For much younger kids, I set up independent rotations OR have older students (high school or college) come in and help launch our project.

So Reader

What do you think? Agree or disagree?

Hit reply and let me know. As always, I want to know your thoughts.

☑️ my first time wasn’t great

STEM Starters STEM is for Everyone! Hey Reader, I’ve been at this 3D Printing thing for a while. And the longer I do it, the more I feel like I need to remind you that I was a newbie once, too. And by newbie, I mean it. The first time I tried to implement 3D Printing with my students in elementary school, I was so excited to begin printing things out for students! Then I discovered it was more difficult than I thought for my young learners to create their own design files, printing was so…
